ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Atthecompletionofoperation,thoroughlywashthemachine
withagardenhose—withoutanozzle—sothatexcessive
waterpressuredoesnotcausecontaminationanddamageto
thesealsandbearings.
Makesurethatthecoolingnsandtheareaaroundthe
cooling-airintakearekeptfreeofdebris.
Important:Cleaningtheoilcoolerwithwaterpromotes
prematurecorrosionanddamagetocomponents,and
compactsdebris;refertoCleaningtheOilCooler(page
37).
Aftercleaning,inspectthemachineforpossible
hydraulic-uidleaks,damage,orweartohydraulicand
mechanicalcomponents.

1.Removethelowershield(Figure44).

fanblades(Figure44)toforcematerialoutfromthe
directionthatitentered.

Storage
PreparingtheMachine
1.Thoroughlycleanthemachine,theattachments,and
theengine.
2.Checkthetirepressure.
3.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenasnecessary.
4.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints.Wipe
offanyexcesslubricant.
5.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpaintedareas
thatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
6.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
B.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswithawire
brushandabaking-sodasolution.
C.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPart505-47)
orpetroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
D.Slowlyrechargethebatteryfor24hoursevery60
daystopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
Note:Thespecicgravityofafullycharged
batteryis1.250.
Note:Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.To
preventthebatteryfromfreezing,makesurethatit
isfullycharged.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Changetheengineoilandlter.RefertoChangingthe
EngineOilandFilter(page28).
2.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor2minutes.
3.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleanerassembly.
RefertoServicingtheAirCleaner(page28).
4.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutletwith
weatherproofmaskingtape.
5.Checktheoil-llercapandthefuel-tankcaptoensure
thattheyaresecurelyinplace.
