ChargingtheHydraulicSystem
IMPORTANT
Airmustbepurgedfromthesystemtoreducethechanceof
componentdamage.
Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponents
suchasmotors,pumps,orcylinders,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystem
ischargedproperlytoremoveairfromthesystem.
IMPORTANT
Flushthehydraulicsystemwheneverthereisaseverecomponent
failureorthesystemiscontaminated;refertoFlushingtheHydraulic
System(page5–52).
1.ParkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandturntheengineOFF .
2.Ensurethatallofthehydraulicconnections,lines,andcomponentsare
securedtightly.
3.Ensurethatthehydraulictankisfull.Addthecorrectquantityandtypeof
hydraulicuidifnecessary;refertothetractionunitOperator’sManual.
4.Checkthetractioncontrolcomponentsforproperadjustment,binding,or
damagedparts.
5.Primethehydraulicpumps;refertoPrimingtheHydraulicPumps(page
5–58).
WARNING
ReviewandfollowJackingInstructions(page1–8)beforejacking
upthemachine.
6.Raisethewheelsofftheoorandsupportthemachinewithjackstands.
IMPORTANT
Checkhydraulictankuidlevelfrequentlywhilechargingthesystem
andadduidasnecessary.
7.Starttheengineandletitidleatlowspeed.
Note:Thehydraulicpumpsshouldpickuphydraulicuidandllthehydraulic
system.Ifthereisnoindicationofthesystemllingwithin30seconds,stop
theengineanddeterminethecause.
8.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowsignsoflling,operatethehitchlift
cylindersupanddownthefulldistanceseveraltimes.Ifthecylindersdonot
moveafter15secondsorthepumpemitsabnormalsounds:
A.TurntheengineOFFimmediately
B.Makesureoneofthehydraulicuidltersorthesuctionlineisnotloose
C.Checkforincorrecthoserouting
D.Ensurethesuctionlineisnotblocked
