1.Removeanyequippedattachments.
2.MovetheshiftlevertotheNEUTRALposition,
loweranyequippedattachments,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekey.Waitforall
movementtostopandallowthemachinetocool.
3.Thoroughlycleanthetractionunitandthe
engine.
Important:Donotusehigh-pressurewater
nearthedashboardorrubbercabseals,as
thismaycausedamage.
Important:Donotusebrackishorreclaimed
watertocleanthemachine.
4.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TireAirPressure(page22).
5.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenas
necessary.
6.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints
andwipeupanyexcesslubricant;referto
GreasingtheBearingsandBushings(page58).
7.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted,
andrepairanydentsinthemetalbody.
8.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthe
batteryposts;refertoDisconnectingthe
Battery(page66).
B.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswith
awirebrushandbaking-sodasolution.
C.Coatthecableterminalsandbatteryposts
withGrafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPart
No.505-47)topreventcorrosion.
D.Slowlychargethebatteryevery60days
for24hourstopreventleadsulfationofthe
battery.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Draintheengineoilfromtheoilpanandinstall
thedrainplug;refertoChangingtheEngineOil
andFilter(page62).
2.Removetheexistingoillterandinstallanew
oillter;refertoChangingtheEngineOiland
Filter(page62).
3.Fillenginewithoil;refertoServicingtheEngine
Oil(page61).
4.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor
approximately2minutes.
5.Removethekeyandshutoffthefuel(if
equipped)beforestoringortransportingthe
machine.
6.Flushthefueltankwithfresh,cleanfuel.
7.Secureallofthefuel-systemttings.
8.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleaner
assembly;refertoServicingtheAirCleaner
(page63).
9.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherprooftape.
10.Checktheanti-freezeprotectionandadda
50/50solutionofwaterandethyleneglycol
anti-freezeasneededfortheexpectedminimum
temperatureinyourarea.
