ThekeyswitchisaninputusedbytheT1:TECtomanagevariousmachine
functions.
TestingtheKeySwitch
ThekeyswitchanditscircuitwiringcanbetestedasaT1:TECinputusingthe
InfoCenterDisplay;refertoUsingtheInfoCenterDisplayforTroubleshooting
(page3–23).Iftestingdeterminesthattheswitchandcircuitwiringarenot
functioningcorrectly,proceedwiththefollowingtestprocedure:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,loweranyattachmentsandstopthe
engine.
2.Disconnectthebatterynegative(-)cableatthebattery.
3.Removetheinstrumentpanelfromtheconsole.
4.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtheswitchandremovethe
switchfromtheinstrumentpanelifnecessary.
Note:Keyswitchterminals1and6areconnectedinternally.Terminals4
and5arealsoconnectedinternally.Theseterminalsshouldhavecontinuity
regardlessoftheswitchposition.
5.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)andtheprecedingtabletodetermine
whethercontinuityexistsbetweenthevariousterminalsforeachswitch
position.
6.Replacetheswitchifnecessary.
7.Iftheswitchtestscorrectlyandacircuitproblemstillexists,checkthewire
harnesses;refertoAppendixA(pageA–1).
8.Installtheswitch,connectthewireharnessandinstalltheinstrumentpanel
aftertesting.
9.Connectthebatterynegative(-)cableatthebattery.
