CleaningtheBatteries
ServiceInterval:Every25hours
1.Ensurethatallthebatterycapsaretight.
2.Useapapertoweltocleanthebatteries.
3.Ifthebatteryterminalsarecorroded,cleanthem
withasolutionof4partswaterand1partbaking
soda.Also,cleanthepostsandcableclamps
withapostandclampcleaner.
Note:Thepostsandclampsshouldhavea
bright,metallicshine.
4.ApplyalightcoatingofT orobattery-terminal
protector.
ChargingtheBatteries
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Thechargerforthismachineislocatedinsidethe
machineundertheoperator’sseat.Formaximum
batterylife,chargethebatterieswheneveryouarenot
usingthemachine.Dependingonhowdischarged
thebatteriesareandtheambienttemperatureofthe
batteries,itmaytakeupto16hourstochargethe
batteriestofullcapacity.
Note:Normalchargetimeisapproximately8to10
hours.
Important:Lead-acidbatteriesdonotdevelop
achargememoryanddonotneedtobe
fullydischargedbeforechargingthem.Fully
dischargingthebatteriesmaydamagethem.
Chargethebatteriesanytimethemachineisnot
inuse.
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgasesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteriesandkeep
sparksandamesawayfromthem.
1.Positionthemachineinawell-ventilatedarea
nearasuitablepoweroutlet.
2.Checktheelectrolytelevelofthebatteries.
Note:Afterfullychargingthebatteries,ll
thebatterieswithdistilledordeionizedwater;
refertoAddingDistilledorDeionizedWaterto
theBatteries(page35).
Important:Fullychargethebatteries
beforeaddingthewatertothebatteries.
Whilecharging,theelectrolyteincreases
involume,andllingalowbatterybefore
fullychargingthebatteriescancausethe
electrolytetooverowandleakoutofthe
vent.
3.Connecta16gauge(orlargerdiameter),
2.5m(8.2ft)orshorterchargercordtothe
chargingreceptacleonthemachine(Figure36).
Note:Ensurethatthecharger-voltagesetting
matchesthevoltageatthepoweroutletbeing
used.
Note:Inhigh-ambienttemperature
environments,removetheseatassemblyfor
optimalchargingtime;refertoRemovinga
BucketSeat(page28).Ifthebatterycharger
istoohot,itmaynotchargeproperly.Incold
temperatures,itmaytakealongerforthe
batteriestocharge.
