Operation
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthe
machinefromthenormaloperatingposition.
Beforeservicingormakingadjustmentsto
themachine,stoptheengine,settheparking
brake,andremovethekeyfromtheswitch.
Removeanyloadmaterialfromthebedor
otherattachmentbeforeworkingundera
raisedbed.Neverworkunderaraisedbed
withoutpositioningthesafetysupportonafully
extendedcylinderrod.
CheckingtheEngineOilLevel
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwithapproximately3.5quarts
(3.3l)(w/lter)ofoilinthecrankcase;however,you
shouldchecktheoillevelbeforeandaftertheengine
isrststarted.
Note:Thebesttimetochecktheengineoiliswhen
theengineiscoolbeforeithasbeenstartedforthe
day.Ifithasalreadybeenrun,allowtheoiltodrain
backdowntothesumpforatleast10minutesbefore
checking.IftheoillevelisatorbelowtheAddmark
onthedipstick,addoiltobringtheoilleveltotheFull
mark.Donotoverll.Iftheoillevelisbetweenthe
FullandAddmarks,noadditionaloilisrequired.
Theengineusesanyhigh-quality10W-30detergent
oilhavingtheAmericanPetroleumInstitute(API)
serviceclassicationCForhigher.Chooseaviscosity
accordingtothetableinFigure14.

Important:Whenaddingengineoilorlling
oil,theremustbeclearancebetweentheoilll
deviceandtheoilllholeinthevalvecoveras
showninFigure16.Thisclearanceisnecessary
topermitventingwhenlling,whichprevents
oilfromoverrunningintothebreather.
