StorageSafety
•Shutoffthemachine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
StoringtheMachine
ServiceInterval:Every200hours—Inspectthe
serviceandparkingbrakes.
Every400hours—Visuallyinspectthebrakes
forwornbrakeshoes.
Aftertherst50hours
Every600hours/Yearly(whichevercomesrst)
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,engage
theparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,and
removethekey.
2.Cleandirtandgrimefromtheentiremachine,
includingtheoutsideoftheengine.
3.Inspectthebrakes;refertoInspectingthe
Brakes(page50).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Filter(page33).
5.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherprooftape.
6.Changetheengineoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOil(page35).
7.Flushthefueltankwithfresh,cleanfuel.
8.Secureallfuelsystemttings.
9.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page17).
10.Checkanti-freezeprotectionandadda50/50
solutionofwaterandantifreezeasneededfor
expectedminimumtemperatureinyourarea.
11.Removethebatteryfromthemachineandfully
chargethebattery;refertoChargingtheBattery
(page43).
Note:Donotconnectthebatterycablestothe
batterypostsduringstorage.
Important:Thebatterymustbefully
chargedtopreventitfromfreezingandbeing
damagedattemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F).
Afullychargedbatterymaintainsitscharge
forabout50daysattemperatureslowerthan
4°C(40°F).Ifthetemperatureswillbebelow
4°C(40°F),chargeitevery30days.
12.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
13.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.

14.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.
15.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
