CoolingSystemSafety
Swallowingenginecoolantcancausepoisoning;
keepoutofreachfromchildrenandpets.
Dischargeofhot,pressurizedcoolantortouching
ahotradiatorandsurroundingpartscancause
severeburns.
Alwaysallowtheenginetocoolatleast15
minutesbeforeremovingtheradiatorcap.
Usearagwhenopeningtheradiatorcap,and
openthecapslowlytoallowsteamtoescape.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutthecovers
inplace.
Keepyourngers,handsandclothingclearof
rotatingfananddrivebelt.
Shutofftheengineandremovethekeybefore
performingmaintenance.

ServiceInterval:Every100hoursCleanthecooling
systemtwiceasoftenduring
specialoperatingconditions;refer
toMaintainingtheMachineunder
SpecialOperatingConditions(page
28).
Important:Operatingtheenginewithablocked
rotatingscreen,dirtyorpluggedcoolingns,or
withthecoolingshroudsremoved,causesengine
damageduetooverheating.
Important:Nevercleantheenginewithapressure
washerbecausewatercouldcontaminatethefuel
system.
Cleantherotatingscreen,coolingns,andexternal
surfacesoftheengine.
Note:Cleantheenginecoolingcomponentsmore
oftenunderextremelydustyanddirtyconditions.
BrakeMaintenance
InspectingtheBrakes
ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Important:Brakesareacriticalsafetycomponent
ofthemachine.Closelyinspectthematthe
recommendedserviceintervaltoensureoptimum
performanceandsafety.
Inspectthebrakeliningforwearordamage.Ifthe
lining(brakepad)thicknessislessthan1.6mm
(1/16inch),replacethebrakelining.
Inspectthebackingplateandothercomponents
forsignsofexcessivewearordeformation.
Replaceanydeformedcomponents.
Checkthebrake-uidlevel;refertoCheckingthe
Brake-FluidLevel(page52).
