Thisisasimpletestthatdeterminesifachargingsystemisfunctioning.Ittells
youifthechargingsystemhasanoutput,butnotitscapacity.
Toolrequired:DigitalmultimetertosettheDCvolts.
1.Connectthepositive(+)multimeterleadtothepositivebatterypostand
negative(-)multimeterleadtothenegativebatterypostandrecordthe
batteryvoltage.
2.Starttheengineandrunitathigh-idlespeed(2,850rpm).Allowthebattery
tochargeforaminimumtimeof3minutes.
3.Connectthepositive(+)multimeterleadtothepositivebatterypostand
negative(-)multimeterleadtothenegativebatterypostandrecordthe
batteryvoltage.
4.Afterrunningtheengineforaminimumtimeof3minutes,thebatteryvoltage
mustbeateast0.50Vhigherthanthatoftheinitialbatteryvoltage.
Note:Dependingupontheconditionofthebattery,itscurrentchargeand
thebatterytemperature,thebatteryvoltageincreasesatdifferentratesas
thebatterycharges.

systemthatisfunctioning.
