LevelingtheRearRoller
Theprecisionmachinedcomponentsofthecuttingunitframekeeptherearroller
andcuttingreelinalignment(parallel).Ifthesideplatesaredisassembleda
limitedamountofsideplateadjustmentispossibletomakesurethattherear
rollerandcuttingreelremainparallel.
Note:Useapietapetomeasurethereeldiametertaper;servicelimit0.25mm
(0.01inch).Levelingtherearrollerofacuttingunitwithareelthatexceedsthe
reeldiametertaperlimitisnotrecommended.
1.Makesurethecuttingunitbedknifeisproperlyadjustedtothereel;referto
theCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
2.Placetheassembledcuttingunitonacuttingunitbenchplatesoatleast
threeofthereelbladescontactthebenchplaterib.

3.Checkiftherearrollerisparalleltothecuttingreelbytryingtota0.13mm
(0.005in)shimbetweentherearrollerandthebenchplateateachendof
rearroller.Rotatetherollerandrechecktheclearanceateachendafew
timestoaccountforanyrollerrun-out.Iftheshimwillpassundertheroller
throughtherollersentirerotation,therearrollerisnotparalleltothereeloris
highononesideandanadjustmentshouldbemade.
Note:Ifthecuttingunithasanoptionalrearrolleradjustmentkit(eccentric
rollershaftbushing),looseningthecuttingunitsideplateshouldnotbe
necessary.Adjusttherearrollerbylooseningtherearrollerclampfasteners
androtatingtheeccentricbushingasnecessary;refertothekitInstallation
Instructionsforadditionalinformation.
4.Loosen,butdonotremove,thetwoshoulderboltsthatsecurethesideplate
totheframeonthesideofthecuttingunitwheretherearrollerishigh(not
contactingthebenchplate).
Note:Itmaybenecessarytoremovetheuppercounterweighttoaccessthe
shoulderboltsfortheleftsideplate.
