Thetractionpedalpositionsensorisaseparatecomponentinthetractionpedal
assembly.Thesensorincludes2analoghalleffectsensors.Thetractionpedal
sensorfollowsthetractionpedalmovement.
Thesensoroperateson5VDCsuppliedbytheSC5:Traction1motorcontroller
(rightside).Signalvoltagefromthepedalsensor(alongwithinformationfrom
additionalinputs)isusedtodeterminetheappropriatecurrentowtooperate
thetractionmotors.Thetractionpedalpositionsensorisconnecteddirectlyto
theSC5:Traction1motorcontroller.Tractioncontrolmessagesaresenttothe
remainderofthetractionsystemmotors(includingmachineswithoptional3WD)
fromtheSC5:Traction1motorcontrollerviatheCABbus.
Thesensorsignalsareconstantlymonitoredfortractionfaultdetection.Ifa
tractionpedalpositionsensorfaultoccurswhilethemachineismoving,the
machinewillslowlycometoastop.Thebrakepedalcanbeusedtostopthe
machinesoonerifnecessary.Atractionpedalpositionsensorfaultwilldisable
tractioncontroluntiltheignitionkeyiscycledOFFandON.

CheckingtheInterlockSystemOperation(page5–19)forabetterunderstanding
ofhowthesensorisused.
Note:Ifathetractionpedalpositionsensorisreplacedorremovedforany
reason,thesensormustbecalibrated;refertoCalibratingtheTractionPedal
PositionSensor(page5–89).
TestingtheTractionPedalPositionSensor
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunitsandsetthekey
switchtotheOFFposition.
