FrontTractionMotor
Thetwofronttractionmotorsarebrushlesspermanentmagnetmotorslocated
directlybehindthefrontwheels.Eachmotorisattachedtoanoillledgearbox
withaninternaldiscbrake.Eachmotorincludesarotaryencodertorecognize
themotorspeed.Themotorcontrollersareseparatefromthemotorsandcontrol
eachmotorindividually.Therightsidecontroller(SC5:Traction1)controlsthe
rightsidetractionmotorandtheleftsidecontroller(SC6:Traction2)controls
theleftsidetractionmotor.Thetractionmotorsreceiveoperationpowerfrom
theirrespectivemotorcontrollers.Thetractionmotorsarenotdirectlyconnected
totheCANbus.
Note:Ifafronttractionmotorisremovedorreplacedforanyreason,thefront
tractionmotorsmustbecalibrated.

TestingtheFrontTractionMotors
TheInfoCenterDisplaycanbeusedtomonitorthecurrentdrawforthetraction
motorsduringmachineoperation.Duringoperation,somevarianceinthe
tractionmotorcurrentdrawisexpectedevenwhendrivingstraight.
Iftractionmotorperformanceissuspect,dothefollowingbeforetestingthe
tractionmotor:
Ensurethetirepressuresareinbalance.
Ensuretherearcasterforkisinalignment;AligningtheRearWheelCaster
Fork(page6–8).
Ensurethebrakesystemisnotengaging(dragging)duringoperation;refer
toAdjustingtheBrakes(page6–3).
Trytocalibratethetractionmotors;refertoCalibratingtheFrontTraction
Motors(page5–57).
