Iftheoilbecomescontaminated,haveyourToro
distributorushthesystem.Contaminatedoillooks
milkyorblackwhencomparedtocleanoil.
1.Cleantheareaaroundtheltermountingarea
(Figure50).Placeadrainpanunderthelter
andremovethelter.

Note:Ifyouwillnotbedrainingtheoil,
disconnectandplugthehydrauliclinegoingto
thelter.
2.Fillthereplacementlterwiththeappropriate
hydraulicuid,lubricatethesealinggasket,and
handturnituntilthegasketcontactsthelter
head.Thentightenit3/4turnfurther.
3.Fillthehydraulicreservoirwithhydraulicuid;
refertoFillingtheHydraulicTank(page29).
4.Startthemachineandrunitatidlefor3to5
minutestocirculatetheuidandremoveanyair
trappedinthesystem.Shutofftheengineand
checktheuidlevel.
5.Disposeoftheoilandlterproperly.

Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.
•Ensurethatallhydraulicuidhoses
andlinesareingoodconditionandall
hydraulicconnectionsandttingsaretight
beforeapplyingpressuretothehydraulic
system.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrom
pin-holeleaksornozzlesthateject
high-pressurehydraulicuid.
•Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulic
leaks.
•Safelyrelieveallpressureinthehydraulic
systembeforeperforminganyworkonthe
hydraulicsystem.
•Getimmediatemedicalhelpifuidis
injectedintoskin.
Checkthehydrauliclinesandhosesdailyfor
leaks,kinkedlines,loosemountingsupports,wear,
loosettings,weatherdeterioration,andchemical
deterioration.Makeallnecessaryrepairsbefore
operating.
