RefertotheengineOwner’sManualsuppliedwiththe
machineforoilchangeandmaintenanceprocedures
recommendedduringthebreak-inperiod.
Only8hoursofoperationisrequiredforthebreak-in
period.
Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,which
couldleadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbe
corrected.Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduring
break-inforsignsofoilleakage,loosefasteners,or
anyothermalfunction.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Donotuseetherorothertypesof
startinguid.
Note:Youmayneedtobleedthefuelsystembefore
startingtheengineifanyofthefollowingsituations
haveoccurred:
Initialstartupofanewengine
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponfuel
systemcomponents;ie.lterreplaced,etc.
Refertoyourengineowner’smanual.
1.Sitontheseat,locktheparkingbrake,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontroland
movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
makesurethepedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition.
4.Insertthekeyintotheswitchandrotateittothe
ONposition.HolditintheONpositionuntilthe
glow-plug-indicatorlightgoesoff(approximately
6seconds).
5.TurntheignitionkeytotheSTARTposition.
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthe
startermotor,donotengagethestarter
longerthan10seconds.After10secondsof
continuouscranking,wait60secondsbefore
engagingthestartermotoragain.
6.Releasethekeywhentheenginestartsand
allowittomovetotheONposition.
7.Allowtheenginetowarmupforafewminutes
beforeoperating.
Important:Whenstartingtheengineforthe
rsttimeorafteranoverhauloftheengine,
operatethemachineinforwardandreverse
for1to2minutes.Turnthesteeringwheel
totheleftandrighttocheckthesteering
response.Thenshuttheengineoffandwait
forallmovingpartstostop;refertoShutting
OfftheEngine(page26).Checkforoil
leaks,loosepartsandanyothernoticeable
malfunctions.
CheckingtheMachineafter
StartingtheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
2.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolleverforward
momentarily.
Thecuttingunitsshouldlowerandallthereels
shouldrotate.
Note:Thefunctionlevershouldbeinthe
middle(mow)positionforthereelsrunwhen
loweringthecuttingunits
3.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrollever
rearward.
Thecuttingreelsshouldstoprotatingandthe
cuttingunitsshouldraisetothefulltransport
position.
4.Engagethebraketokeepthemachinefrom
moving,andoperatethetractionpedalthrough
theforwardandreversepositions.
5.Continuetheaboveprocedurefor1or2
minutes.Movethefunctional-controllevertothe
NEUTRALposition,engagetheparkingbrake,
andshutofftheengine.
6.Checkforuidleaksandtightenthehydraulic
ttingsifanyleaksarefound.
Note:Whenthemachineisnewandthe
bearingsandreelsaretight,itisnecessary
tousetheFASTthrottle-leverpositionforthis
check.Afastthrottlesettingmaynotberequired
afterthebreak-inperiod.
Note:Ifuidleakscontinuetoappear,contact
yourauthorizedT orodistributorforassistance
and,ifnecessary,replacementparts.
Important:Atraceofuidonthemotoror
wheelsealsisnormal.Sealsrequireasmall
amountoflubricationtoperformproperly.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,pull
backtheraise/lowermowcontrol,andmovethe
functional-controllevertotheNEUTRALposition.
