AdjustingtheCuttingUnit
Lift/Drop
Thecuttingunitlift/dropcircuitcomeswitha
ow-controlvalve(Figure48).Thisvalveispreset
atthefactoryatapproximately3turnsopen,butyou
mayneedtoadjustittocompensatefordifferencesin
hydraulicuidtemperatures,mowingspeeds,etc.
Note:Allowthehydraulicuidtoreachfulloperating
temperaturebeforeadjustingtheow-controlvalve.
1.Raisetheseatandlocatetheow-controlvalve
forthecenter-pullframe(Figure48),whichis
locatedonthesideofthehydraulicmanifold.

2.Loosenthejamnutontheadjustingknobonthe
owcontrolvalve.
3.Rotatetheknobcounterclockwiseifthecenter
cuttingunitisdroppingtoolateorclockwiseif
thecentercuttingunitisdroppingtooearly.You
shouldnotneedtorotateitmorethan1/32to
1/16ofaturn.
4.Testtheadjustmentandrepeatstep3as
needed;whennished,tightenthejamnut.

•Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifuidisinjected
intoskin.Injecteduidmustbesurgicallyremoved
withinafewhoursbyadoctor.
•Ensurethatallhydraulic-uidhosesandlinesare
ingoodconditionandallhydraulicconnections
andttingsaretightbeforeapplyingpressureto
thehydraulicsystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompinhole
leaksornozzlesthatejecthigh-pressurehydraulic
uid.
•Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
•Safelyrelieveallpressureinthehydraulicsystem
beforeperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system.
ServicingtheHydraulic
Fluid
Important:Regardlessofthehydraulicuid
typeused,anytractionunitusedforoff-green
applications,verticuttingorusedduringambient
temperaturesabove29°C(85°F)shouldhavethe
OilCoolerKitinstalled;referto7InstallingtheOil
Cooler(page12).
HydraulicFluidSpecications
Thereservoirislledatthefactorywithhigh-quality
hydraulicuid.Checkthelevelofthehydraulicuid
beforeyourststarttheengineanddailythereafter;
refertoCheckingtheHydraulic-FluidLevel(page45).
Recommendedhydraulicuid:T oroPXExtended
LifeHydraulicFluid;availablein19L(5USgallon)
pailsor208L(55USgallon)drums.
Note:Amachineusingtherecommended
replacementuidrequireslessfrequentuidandlter
changes.
Alternativehydraulicuids:IfToroPXExtended
LifeHydraulicFluidisnotavailable,youmayuse
anotherconventional,petroleum-basedhydraulicuid
havingspecicationsthatfallwithinthelistedrange
forallthefollowingmaterialpropertiesandthatit
meetsindustrystandards.Donotusesyntheticuid.
Consultwithyourlubricantdistributortoidentifya
satisfactoryproduct.
