•Stayawayfromthereelwhilebacklapping.

•Neveruseashorthandledpaintbrushfor

backlapping.Handleassemblypartsare

availablefromyourlocalauthorizedToro

distributor.

Youcanbacklapthereelseitherbyleavingthecutting

unitonthetractionunitorremovingthecuttingunit

completelyfromthetractionunit.Ifthecuttingunitis

leftonthetractionunit,movethehexcouplerbetween

themaindriveandcuttingunitdrivetothedecoupled

positiontopreventexcessiveweartothereelbrake.

1.Positionthemachineonaclean,levelsurface.

2.Shutoffthemachineasfollows:

•Gasolineunits:shutofftheengineand

disconnectthespark-plugwire.

•Electricunits:turnoffthemachineand

disconnectthebatteryconnector(T-handle).

3.Engagetheparkingbrake.

4.Connectthebacklappingmachinetothecutting

unitbyconnectinga1/2inchhexsockettothe

reelpulleyoutputshaftontheleftsideofthe

cuttingunit.

Note:Forabettercuttingedge,runale

acrossthefrontfaceofthebedknifewhenthe

lappingoperationiscompleted.Thisremoves

anyburrsorroughedgesthatmayhavebuiltup

onthecuttingedge.Averylightletouchmay

benecessaryonthetopedgetobreaktheburr

offcompletelyfromthecuttingedge.

Note:Ifthecuttingunitwasleftattachedto

themachineduringbacklapping,couplethehex

shaftofthemachinebacktothecuttingunit.
