8.Topushorpullthemachineeasierwithoutstarting
theengine,adjustthebeltguide(Figure40,inset)as
follows:
A.Engagetheclutch.
B.Loosenthelocknutsecuringtheidlerpulleyand
beltguidetotheidlerarm.
C.Rotatethebeltguideclockwiseuntilagapof
approximately0.06inch(0.15cm)isobtained
betweentheguidengerandthebacksideofthe
drivebelts.
D.Tightenthelocknutsecuringtheidlerpulleyand
beltguidetotheidlerarm.
9.Closethecoverandsecuretheretainer.
ReplacingtheDifferentialBelt
1.Removetheboltssecuringthetractiondriveandreel
drivebeltcoverstotherightsideplateandremovethe
beltcovers.
2.Loosentheidlerpulleymountingnutoneachidler
pulleyandpivoteachidlerpulleycounterclockwise
awayfromthebacksideofeachbelttoreleasethebelt
tension.
3.Removethebelts.
4.Removetheboltssecuringthefrontandrearsections
ofthedifferentialcovertothedifferentialhousing
andslidethecoversectionsawaytoexposethebelt
(
Figure41).

5.Loosentheidlerpulleymountingnutonthedifferential
idlerpulleyandpivottheidlerpulleycounterclockwise
awayfromthebacksideofthebelttoreleasethebelt
tension.
6.Removethe2boltsandlocknutssecuringthefront
clutchhousingtothesideplate(
Figure41).
7.Rotatethehousing180°sothebottomofthehousing
pointsupward.
8.Removethe2boltsandlocknutssecuringtherightrear
bearinghousingtothesideplate(Figure41).
9.Rotatethehousing180°sothebottomofthehousing
pointsupward.Removetheoldbelt.
10.Slidethenewbeltovertherotatedhousingcovers,the
differentialcoversections,andontothedifferential
pulleys.
11.Ensurethattheidlerpulleyispositionedagainstthe
backsideofthebelt.
12.Rotatebothhousingsbackintotheuprightposition
andsecurethemtothesideplatewiththeboltsand
nutspreviouslyremoved.
13.Adjustthedifferentialbelttension;referto
AdjustingtheDifferentialBelt(page28).
14.Adjustthebelttensiononthetraction
driveandreeldrivebelts;referto
AdjustingtheTractionDriveBelt(page27),
andAdjustingtheReelDriveBelt(page27).
15.Installthedifferential,tractiondrive,andreeldrive
covers.
