ServiceInterval:Aftertherst10hours—Checkthe
conditionandtensionofallbelts.
Every100hours—Checktheconditionand
tensionofallbelts.
TensioningtheAlternator/FanBelt
1.Preparethemachineformaintenance;referto
PreparingforMaintenance(page41).
2.Unlatchandopenthehood.
3.Checkthebelttensionbypressingthebelt
midwaybetweenthealternatorandcrankshaft
pulleys.
Note:With98N(22lb)offorce,thebeltshould
deect11mm(7/16inch).

followingproceduretotensionthebelt:
A.Loosentheboltsecuringthebracetothe
engineandtheboltsecuringthealternator
tothebrace.
B.Insertaprybarbetweenthealternatorand
engineandprythealternatoroutward.
C.Whenyouachieveproperbelttension,
tightenthealternatorandbraceboltsto
securetheadjustment.
5.Closeandlatchthehood.
ReplacingtheHydrostatDriveBelt
1.Insertanutdriverorsmallpieceoftubingonto
theendofthebelttensioningspring.
WARNING
Whenyoureplacethehydrostatdrive
belt,youmustreleasethetensionon
thespring,whichisunderaheavy
load.Releasingthetensiononthe
springimproperlymayresultinserious
personalinjury.
Becarefulwhenreleasingthetensionon
thespring.
2.Pushdowntheendofthebelt-tensionspring
downandoutofthenotchinthetabofthepump
mount,andmovethespringendforward(Figure
88).
