LubricatingtheCuttingUnit
Eachcuttingunithas6greasettings(Figure29)thatmust
belubricatedregularlywithNo.2lithiumgrease.
Thelubricationpointsincludethefrontroller(2),therear
roller(2),andthereelbearing(2).
1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.
2.Applygreaseuntilcleangreasecomesoutoftheroller
sealsandthebearingreliefvalve.
3.Wipeanyexcessgreaseaway.

AdjustingtheReelBearings
Toensurelonglifeofthereelbearings,periodicallycheck
ifreelendplayexists.Youcancheckandadjustthereel
bearingsasfollows:
1.Loosenthereel-to-bedknifecontactbyturningthe
bedknifeadjustingknobs(Figure30)counterclockwise
untilnocontactexists.

adjusternuttobearinghousinglocatedontheleft
sideofthecuttingunit(Figure32).

B.Usinga1-3/8inchsocketwrench,slowlytighten
thereel-bearingadjustmentnutuntilnoendplay
ofthereelexists.Ifadjustingthenutdoesnot
eliminatereelendplay,replacethereelbearings.
Note:Thereelbearingsdonotrequirepreload.
Overtighteningthereel-bearingadjusternutwill
damagethereelbearings.
4.Tightenthesetscrewsecuringthebearingadjusternut
tothebearinghousing.
Note:Torquethenutto1.4to1.7N∙m(12to15
in-lb).
