AssemblingtheHeightAdjusterAssembly
1.Assembletheheightadjuster(Figure396)notingthefollowingitems:
A.Ifthebushing(item5inFigure396)wasremovedfromtheupperramp,
pressanewbushingintothehousingfullytotheshoulderinthebore.
B.Ifthe2jamnuts(item11inFigure396)wereremovedfromtheballjoint
rod,applyanti-seizelubricanttothethreadsoftherodwherethejam
nutswillbepositioned.Installthe2jamnutssothatthedistancefrom
theendoftheballjointrodtothebottomofthelowernutis8.1to8.4
cm(3.190to3.310inches).
C.Applyanti-seizelubricanttothethreadsofthegroomeradjuster(item3in
Figure396)beforeyouinstallitonthethreadsoftheballjointrod.
D.Ifthedetentspring(item2inFigure396)wasremoved,securethedetent
springtotheupperrampwiththewasher-headscrew;torquethescrew
to3.4to4.5N∙m(30to40in-lb).
2.Applyanti-seizelubricanttotheshoulderoftheshoulderbolt(item13in
Figure396)thatsecuretheballjointrodtothegroomerplate.Installthe
shoulderboltandtorquetheboltto23to28N∙m(17to21ft-lb)tosecure
theballjointrod.
3.Checkthegroomerreelheightandadjustasnecessary.
4.Afterthegroomerheighthasbeenadjusted,adjustthelocationofthejam
nutssothatthecompressionspringlengthis3.4to3.6cm(1.320to1.440
inches)whenthegroomerhandleisinthedisengagedposition(handle
towardtherearofthecuttingunit).

Theoptionalgroomingbrushattachestothegroomerinplaceofthegroomer
reel.Thegroomingbrushisremovedandinstalledfromthegroomerinthesame
mannerasthegroomerreel;refertoGroomerReel(page10–15).
Thegroomingbrushelementsorshaftscanbeservicedseparately(Figure397).
Toremovethespiralgroomingbrushfromtheshaft,removethelocknutand
J-boltfrombothendsofthebrushassemblyandslidethebrushfromtheshaft.
Whenassemblingthespiralbrushtotheshaft,ensurethattheJ-boltsare
