AssemblingtheRearWheelBearings(Machineswith2-WheelDrive)
1.Ifbearingcupswereremovedfromthewheelhub,pressnewcupsintothe
hubuntiltheyseatagainsttheshoulderofthehub.
IMPORTANT
Thelipofthesealmustbetowardthebearing.Thesealshouldbe
pressedinsoitisushwiththeendofthewheelhub.
2.Packbothbearingswithgrease.Installonebearingintothebearingcupon
inboardsideofthewheelhub.Lubricatetheinsideofanewsealandpressit
intothewheelhubwiththesealliptowardthebearing.
3.Fillwheelhubcavitybetweenbearingsapproximately50%fullofgrease.
Positionremainingbearingintotheouterbearingcup.
4.Slidethewheelhubassemblyontothespindleshaftandsecureitinplace
withthetabwasherandjamnut.Donotfullytightenthenutorinstallthe
cotterpin.
5.Whilerotatingthewheelhubbyhand,torquethejamnutto8.5to11.3N∙m
(75to100in-lb)tosetthebearings.Then,loosenthenutuntilthehub
hasend-play.
6.Whilerotatingthewheelhubbyhand,torquethejamnutto1.7to2.3N∙m
(15to20in-lb).Aftertightening,ensurethatthewheelhubdoesnothave
anyfreeplay.
7.Installretainerwithslotalignedtocotterpinholeinspindle.Installcotterpin.
8.Filldustcapapproximatelyhalffullofgrease.Installdustcap.
9.Installrearwheel;refertoWheels(page8–5).
10.Lowerthemachinetotheground.
11.T orquethewheel-lugnutsevenlyinacrossingpatternto95to122N∙m
(70to90ft-lb).
