Understandingthe
DiagnosticLight
Themachineisequippedwithadiagnosticlight,which
indicatesifthemachinedetectsamalfunction.The
diagnosticlightislocatedontheInfoCenter,above
thedisplayscreen(Figure71).Whenthemachine
isfunctioningproperlyandthekeyswitchismoved
totheON/RUNposition,thediagnosticlightturnson
brieytoindicatethatthelightisworkingproperly.
Whenamachineadvisorymessageappears,thelight
illuminateswhenthemessageispresent.Whena
faultmessageappears,thelightblinksuntilthefault
isresolved.

CheckingtheInterlock
Switches
Thepurposeoftheinterlockswitchesistopreventthe
enginefromcrankingorstartingunlessthetraction
pedalisintheNEUTRALposition,theEnable/Disable
switchisintheDISABLEposition,andtheLower
Mow/RaisecontrolisintheNEUTRALposition.In
addition,theengineshouldstopwhenyoupress
thetractionpedalwhileyouareofftheseatorifthe
parkingbrakeisengaged.
CAUTION
Ifthesafety-interlockswitchesare
disconnectedordamaged,themachinecould
operateunexpectedly,causingpersonal
injury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
VerifyingtheInterlock-Switch
Function
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,shutofftheengine,engagethe
parkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthe
ignitionswitch.
2.TurnthekeyintheignitionswitchtotheON
position,butdonotstartthemachine.
3.Locatetheappropriateswitchfunctioninthe
diagnosticsmenuontheInfoCenter.
4.Individually,changeeachoftheswitchesfrom
opentoclosed(i.e.,sitonseat,engagetraction
pedal,etc.),andnotethattheappropriatestate
oftheswitchchanges.
Note:Repeatthisforallswitchesthatyoucan
changebyhand.
5.Ifaswitchisclosedandtheappropriate
indicatordoesnotchange,checkallwiringand
connectionstotheswitchand/orcheckthe
switcheswithanohmmeter.
Note:Replaceanyfaultyswitchesandrepair
anyfaultywiring.
Note:TheInfoCenterdisplayalsocandetectwhich
outputsolenoidsorrelaysareturnedon.Thisisa
quickwaytodetermineifamachinemalfunctionis
electricalorhydraulic.
VerifyingtheOutputFunction
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,shutofftheengine,engagethe
parkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthe
ignitionswitch.
2.TurnthekeyintheignitionswitchtotheON
positionandstartthemachine.
3.Locatetheappropriateoutputfunctioninthe
diagnosticsmenuontheInfoCenter.
4.Sitontheseatandattempttooperatethe
desiredfunctionofthemachine.
Note:Theappropriateoutputsshouldchangestate
toindicatethattheECMisturningonthatfunction.
Ifthecorrectoutputsdonotilluminate,verifythatthe
requiredinputswitchesareinthenecessarypositions
toallowthatfunctiontooccur.Verifythecorrectswitch
function.
Iftheoutputdisplaysareonasspecied,butthe
machinedoesnotfunctionproperly,thisindicates
anon-electricalproblem.Repairthemachineas
necessary.
