8.Leavethemachineparkedfor2hoursandmonitortheliftcylinder.The
weightofthecuttingunitmaycausetheliftcylindertograduallyextend.Use
thetapelocationtodetermineliftcylinderrodmovement(Figure108).
A.Ifliftcylinderrodmovementislessthan31.7mm(1.250inches)after2
hours,ensurethatthecuttingunithasnotsettledtotheground.Ifthe
cuttingunitisstillsuspendedafter2hoursandliftcylinderrodmovement
islessthan31.7mm(1.250inches),considerthattheliftcylinderisin
goodcondition.Acylinderingood,usableconditionwillshowminimal
movement.
B.Rodmovementinexcessof31.7mm(1.250inches)after2hours
indicatesthattheliftcylindermayhaveinternalsealdamageorexcessive
wear.Removeandinspecttheliftcylinder;refertoLiftCylinder(page
6–215)andServicingtheLiftCylinder(page6–218).
9.Onceliftcylinderconditionhasbeendetermined,useajacktoraisethelift
armslightlywhichwillremovetheloadfromtheliftcylinder.Allowthejackto
supporttheliftarmandtopreventitfromlowering.Removethecapfromthe
cylinderttingandtheplugfromthehydraulichose.Connectthehydraulic
hosetotheliftcylindertting.
