1.Ensurethatallthethreads,thesealingsurfacesoftting,andthecomponent
portarefreeofburrs,nicks,scratches,orunwantedmaterial.
2.Tohelppreventahydraulicleak,replacetheO-ringwhenyouopenthe
connection.

3.LightlylubricatetheO-ringwithcleanhydraulicuid.Ensurethatthethreads
ofthettingarecleanwithnolubricantapplied(Figure60).
IMPORTANT
Beforeinstallingthettingintotheport,determinethematerialof
whichtheportismade.Installingattingintoanaluminumport
requiresareducedinstallationtorque.
4.Installthettingintotheport,thenuseatorquewrenchandsockettotighten
thettingtotherecommendedtorquevaluewithinthespeciedrangeof
torquevalues;refertotheFittingInstallationT orqueTable(page6–13).
Note:Itmaybenecessarytouseadrive-adapterwrench(e.g.,crowfoot
wrench)toinstallahydraulictting;refertoCalculatingtheT orqueValues
WhenUsingaDrive-AdapterWrench(page2–6).
5.Ifatorquewrenchisnotavailableorifspaceattheportpreventstheuse
ofatorquewrench,usethealternativeprocedureFlatFromFingerTight
Table(page6–16)givenbelow;
A.Installthettingintotheportandtightenthettingdownfulllengthuntil
nger-tight.
B.Iftheportmaterialissteel,tightenthettingtothelistedFFFT.Iftheport
materialisaluminum,tightenthettingto60%ofthelistedFFFT .
