6.Disconnectthecasedrainhoseandputasteelcaponthettingatthe
tractionunit.Leavethecasedrainhosefromthemotoropenandplacethe
openendofthedisconnectedhoseintoadrainpan.
IMPORTANT
Ensurethattheuidowindicatorarrowontheowgaugeis
showingthattheuidwillowfromthereelmotor,throughthe
tester,andintothereturnhose.
7.Forthereelmotorthatistobetested,cleanthejunctionofthehydraulic
returnhoseandreelmotorttingatthemotoroutlet(Figure125).
8.Disconnectthereturnhosefromthemotor,installthetesterwiththepressure
gaugeandowmeterinserieswiththemotoranddisconnectedreturnhose.
Ensurethattheowcontrolvalveontesterisfullyopen.
Note:Useagraduatedcontainer,thespecialtoolTOR4077,tomeasure
thecasedrainleakage(Figure124).
9.UsetheInfoCenterdisplaytosetreelspeedcontroltothefullspeedsetting.
Ensurethatthemow/backlapleveronthemowcontrolmanifoldisinthe
MOWposition.
10.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed.Checkforhydraulic-uidleaks
fromthetestconnectionsandcorrectbeforecontinuingthetest.
CAUTION
Thecuttingunitreelswillrotatewhenyouperformthemotor
efciencytest.Keepawayfromthecuttingunitsduringthetestto
preventpersonalinjuryfromtherotatingreelblades.Donotstand
infrontofthemachine.
Note:Thistestrequires2people(oneintheseatandoneatthecutting
reelmotor).
11.Sitontheseatwiththeenginerunning,presstheenginespeedswitchto
fullspeed(3,005to3,055rpm)position.UsetheInfoCentertocheckthat
theenginespeediscorrect.PressthereelengageswitchtoONposition,
andengagethecuttingunits.
12.Monitorthetesterpressuregaugecarefullywhileyouslowlyclosetheow
controlvalveuntilapressureof13,800kPa(2,000psi)isobtained.
13.Haveanassistantplacethedisconnectedmotorcasedrainhoseintoa
containergraduatedinouncesormilliliters(T oroPartNo.TOR4077)and
collectthehydraulicuidfor10seconds.
14.After10seconds,removethehoseendfromthecontainer,andthenmove
thereelengageswitchtoOFFposition,openthetesterowcontrolvalve,
andshutofftheengine.
15.Identifytheamountofuidcollectedinthecontainer.Recordthetestresults.
Iftheowwasgreaterthan651ml(22oz)and3.9L/minute(1.02
gallons/minute),repairorreplacethetestedreelmotor;refertoServicing
theCuttingReelMotor(Casappa)(page6–204).
16.Afteryoucompletethetesting,shutofftheengine.Disconnectthetester
fromthemotorandreturnhose.
