Thisisafast,simpletestthatcanhelptodeterminetheintegrityandoperationof
yourReelmasterglowplugsystemusedonaKubotadieselengine.Thetest
shouldberunanytimehardstarting(coldengine)isencounteredonadiesel
engineequippedwithaglowplugsystem.
Useadigitalmultimeterand/orinductiveAmmeter(AC/DCCurrentTransducer).
Properlyconnecttheammetertothedigitalmultimeter(refertomanufacturer’s
instructions)andsetthemultimetertothecorrectscale.Withthekeyswitchin
theOFFposition,placetheammeterpickuparoundthemainglowplugpower
supplywireandreadthemeterpriortoactivatingtheglowplugsystem.Adjust
themetertoreadzero(ifapplicable).Activatetheglowplugsystembyturning
thekeyswitchtoON/RUNandrecordthemultimeterresults.
TheReelmasterglowplugsystemshouldhaveareadingofapproximately9A
perglowplug(27AtotalonReelmaster5210and36Atotalonmodelswith4
cylinderengine).Iflowcurrentreadingisobserved,1(ormore)glowplugs
isdamaged.
CheckingtheOperationoftheInterlockSwitches
CAUTION
Donotdisconnectthesafetyswitches.Theyarefortheoperator’s
protection.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitchesdailyforproper
operation.
Replaceanymalfunctioningswitchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
YourReelmasterisequippedwithaToroElectronicController(TEC)which
monitorinterlockswitchoperation.Ifalloftheinterlockswitchesnecessaryto
allowaspecicmachineoperationarenotintheirdesiredposition,anOperator’s
AdvisorywillappearontheInfoCenterdisplay;refertoOperatorAdvisories
(page7–26).
TheinterlocksystemusedonyourReelmasterincludesthekeyswitch,seat
switch,tractionneutralswitch,parkingbrakeswitch,reelsdownswitch,
mow/transportswitch,reelengageswitch,and2cuttingunitbacklapswitches.
TestingofindividualinterlockswitchesisincludedinTestingtheElectrical
Components(page7–54).
