IMPORTANT
Thegearpumpisapositivedisplacementtype.Ifpumpowis
completelyrestrictedorstopped,damagetothepump,tester,or
othercomponentscouldoccur.
10.Whilecarefullywatchingpressuregaugeonhydraulictester,slowlyclosethe
testerowcontrolvalveuntil6,900kPa(1,000psi)isobtainedongauge.
11.Pumpowwillbedisplayedbyowmeterontester:
Flowtesterreadingtobe:Apumpingoodconditionshouldhaveaowof
approximately11.4L/minute(3gallons/minute)at6,900kPa(1,000psi).
12.Openthetesterowcontrolvalve,shutoffengineandrecordtestresults.
13.Ifowislessthan9.5L/minute(2.5gallons/minute)orapressureof6,900
kPa(1,000psi)cannotbeobtained,considerthatapumpproblemexists.
Checkforrestrictioninpumpintakeline.Ifintakeisnotrestricted,remove
gearpumpandrepairorreplacepumpasnecessary;refertoHydraulicPump
Assembly(page6–163)andServicingtheGearPump(page6–169).
Note:Iftheowfromgearpump(P4)islow,theoperationofallliftcylinders
willbeaffected.
14.Aftertestingiscompleted,ensurethattheengineisshutoff,thenrelieve
hydraulicsystempressure;refertoReleasingPressurefromtheHydraulic
System(page6–8).Removehydraulictesterfromhydraulichoseandpump
tting.Connecthydraulichosetogearpumptting.
