3.Inspectthedrivegearsandidlergearsforthefollowing(Figure176):
A.Gearshaftsmustbefreeofscoring,roughsurfaces,andexcessivewear
atthebushingpointsandsealingareas.Replacethegearsifyound
anyscoring,roughsurfaces,orwearonthegearshafts.
B.Gearteethmustbefreefromexcessivescoringandwear.Replacethe
gearsifyoundbrokenornickedgearteeth.
C.Gearfaceedgemustbefreefromsharpness.Thesharpedgesofgears
willmillintothewearplates.Replacethegearsifyoundanysharp
gearfaceedge.
4.Inspectthewearplatesforthefollowing:
A.Bearingareasmustnothaveexcessivewearorscoring.
B.Faceofthewearplatesthatareincontactwiththegearsmustbefreeof
wear,roughness,orscoring.
C.Thicknessofthewearplatesshouldbeequal.
5.Inspectthefrontangeandrearcoverfordamageorwear.
6.Ifinternalpartsarefoundtobewornordamaged,motorreplacementis
necessary.
AssemblingtheCuttingReelMotor
Note:Whenassemblingthemotor,checkthemarkerlineoneachparttoensure
thatthepartsareproperlyaligned.
1.LubricatenewO-rings,pressureseals,andback-upgaskets,andwearplate
grooveswithathincoatofpetroleumjelly.Lubricateallotherinternalparts
freelywithcleanhydraulicuid.
2.Installnewsealsintothefrontange.Notetheorientationofseallipsduring
installation(Figure175):
