FlushingtheHydraulicSystem(continued)
IMPORTANT
Ifacomponentfailureoccursinthetractioncircuit;refertothe
TractionCircuitComponentFailure(page6–9)forinformation
regardingtheimportanceofremovingcontaminationfromthe
tractioncircuit.
1.Ensurethatthehydraulicuidisatnormaloperatingtemperatureby
operatingthemachineforatleast20minutes.
CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page6–8).
2.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
Note:Ensurethatyoucleanallthehydraulicconnectionsthatare
disconnectedfordraining.
3.Drainthehydraulicuidfromthehydraulictank.Removethetankcap,
screenlter,andcleanthetank.Considerremovingandcleaningthe
reservoirifnecessary.
4.Cleantheareaaroundthemountingareasofthehydraulic-uidlters.
Removeandreplacethehydraulic-uidlters.
5.Inspectandcleanthehydraulictank;refertoInspectingtheHydraulicT ank
(page6–155).
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposing
hydraulicuidandlters.
6.Drainthecompletehydraulicsystem.Drainallthehoses,tubes,and
componentswhilethesystemiswarm.Flushthehosesandtubestoremove
anycontamination.
7.Connectallthehydraulichoses,tubes,andcomponentsthatwere
disconnectedwhiledrainingthesystem.
8.Ensurethatthemountingsurfacesofthehydraulic-uidltersareclean.
Applycleanhydraulicuidtothegasketonnewlters.Tightentheltersuntil
thegasketcontactsthemountingplate,thentightenthelter3quarters
ofaturn.
IMPORTANT
Usingotherhydraulicuidscoulddamagethehydraulicsystem.
