thatthereelrollingtorquedoesnotexceed1.1N∙m(10in-lb).Also,check
ifreelbearingend-playexists.Ifend-playexists,replacethecuttingreel
bearingsandseals;refertoReelAssembly(cuttingunitswithpaintedside
plates)(page9–29)andReelAssemblyService(cuttingunitswithpainted
sideplates)(page9–36).
7.ApplyLoctite#243(orequivalent)tothethreadsofthesetscrewandsecure
thebearingadjusternutinplacewiththesetscrew;torquethesetscrew
to1.4to1.7N∙m(12to15in-lb).
8.Afteradjustingthereelbearing,installalltheremovedcuttingunit
componentstothecuttingunit.
LevelingtheRearRoller
Theprecisionmachinedcomponentsofthecuttingunitframekeeptherearroller
andcuttingreelinalignment(parallel).Ifthesideplatesaredisassembledoras
thecuttingreelwears,alimitedamountofsideplateadjustmentispossibleto
ensurethatthecuttingunitisproperlyaligned.
1.Placetheassembledcuttingunitonasurfaceplate.
2.Ensurethatthebedknifeisproperlyadjustedtothecuttingreel.
3.Checkiftherearrollerisleveltothecuttingreelbyusinga0.13mm(0.005
inch)feelergaugetodeterminetheclearancebetweenthesurfaceplateand
therearrollerateachendoftheroller.Astherearrollerisrotated1fullturn,
checkifthefeelergaugewillconsistentlypassundertherolleratoneend
butwillnotpassundertheoppositeend.Checktherearrollerwiththefeeler
gaugejustinsidethemachinedendsoftheroller.Aframeadjustmentshould
bemadeifthereisconsistentlymorethan0.13mm(0.005inch)clearance
undertherollerononeendbutnotontheother.
Note:Cuttingunitswith5inchdiameterreeluse2shoulderboltstosecure
thesideplatestotheframe.Cuttingunitswith7inchdiameterreeluse3
shoulderboltstosecurethesideplatestotheframe.
