ThetemperaturesenderusedonmachineswithaKubotadieselengineis
attachedtothewaterangeontheengine(Figure267).TheT oroElectronic
Controller(TEC)monitorstheoperationofthetemperaturesender.
Theresistanceofthetemperaturesenderreducesastheenginecoolant
temperatureincreases.Thechangingresistanceofthetemperaturesenderis
usedasananaloginputtotheTEC.TheInfoCenterdisplayindicatesengine
coolanttemperatureduringmachineoperationbasedonCANcommunication
withtheTEC.
Ifenginecoolanttemperaturerisestoapproximately105°C(221°F),theTEC
inputcausesthecuttingreelstobedisengagedandtheInfoCenterdisplay
toindicateanoperatoradvisory.Ifcoolanttemperaturecontinuestoriseto
approximately115°C(239°F),theenginewillbeshutdownbythecontrollerand
afaultwillbegeneratedtohelpidentifytheproblem;refertoFaultsScreen
(page7–16).
Note:Excessiveenginecoolanttemperature,adamagedtemperaturesenderor
damagedwiringtothetemperaturesendercouldcausethecuttingunitstobe
disengagedortheenginetobeshutdown.TheInfoCenterdisplaywouldidentify
eitheranadvisoryorafaulttohelpidentifytheproblem.
Ifexcessivecoolanttemperaturecausesengineshutdown,theoperatorcan
starttheenginetoallowthemachinetobemovedashortdistance.Aftera
startinthiscondition,theenginewillrunforapproximately10secondsbefore
theengineshutsdownagain.
TestingtheTemperatureSender
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,settheparkingbrake,lowerthecutting
units,andshutofftheengine.Removethekeyfromthekeyswitch.Open
hoodtogetaccesstoengine.
2.Locatetemperaturesenderonenginewaterangeanddisconnectwire
harnessconnectorfromsender.
3.Lowercoolantlevelintheengineandremovethetemperaturesenderfrom
waterange.
