Onmachinewithadieselengine,thefuelsenderisavariableresistancedevice
thatislocatedinthefueltank(Figure271).Theresistanceofthefuelsender
increasesasthefuellevelinthefueltankdecreases.TheTECusesthefuel
senderasaninputtogenerateanoutputfortheInfoCenterfuelgauge.
TestingtheFuelSender
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Removethe5screwsthatsecurethesendercovertothefueltank(Figure
271).Liftthecoverfromthetank.
3.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromthefuelsender.
CAUTION
TurningthekeyswitchtotheRUNpositionwhenthecircuitwiring
isnotconnectedcouldleadtosparking,resultinginreoran
explosion.
Whentestingthecircuitwiringandfuelsender,ensurethatthewire
connectionsaresecurebeforeturningthekeyswitchtotheRUN
position.
