GeneralPrecautionsforRemovingandInstallingtheHydraulic
SystemComponents
BeforeRepairingorReplacingtheComponents
1.Beforeremovinganypartsfromthehydraulicsystem,parkthemachineon
alevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits,shutofftheengine,settheparking
brake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Cleanthemachinebeforeyoudisconnect,remove,ordisassemblethe
hydrauliccomponents.
Note:Cleanlinessisnecessarywheneveryouworkonthehydraulic
equipment.Ensurethatyoucleanthehydrauliccomponents,hoses,
connections,andttings.
3.Labelallthedisconnectedhydrauliclinesandhosesforproperinstallation
afterrepairsarecompleted.
4.Notethepositionofthehydraulicttings(especiallyelbowttings)onthe
hydrauliccomponentsbeforeremoval.
Note:Marktheparts,ifnecessarybeforeremovalandensurethattheyare
alignedproperlywheninstallingthehydraulicttings,hoses,andtubes.
CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page6–8).
5.Thehydraulicuidmaybehot.Becarefulwhenyouloosenandremove
thehydraulicsystemcomponents.
6.Installcleancapsorplugsonthehydrauliclines,hydraulicttings,and
componentsthatareleftopenorexposedtopreventhydraulicsystem
contamination.Captheopeningassoonasthelineorportisexposed.
AfterRepairingorReplacingtheComponents
1.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulictankandaddcorrectquantity
ofuidifnecessary.Usethehydraulicuidsthatarespeciedinthe
Operator'sManual.
IMPORTANT
Drainandllthehydraulictankandchangetheoillterifthe
componentfailureissevereorthesystemiscontaminated;referto
FlushingtheHydraulicSystem(page6–147).
2.Ifacomponentfailureoccurredintheclosed-looptractioncircuit(e.g.,piston
pumporwheelmotor),lteringthetractioncircuitisnecessary;referto
FilteringtheClosed-LoopTractionCircuit(page6–149).
3.LubricatetheO-ringsandsealswithcleanhydraulicuidbeforeinstalling
thehydrauliccomponents.
