viscositygrades.

Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;
however,checktheoillevelbeforeandafteryourst
starttheengine.
Note:ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailablefroma
distributorineither15W-40or10W-30viscosity.See
thepartscatalogforpartnumbers.
Note:Thebesttimetochecktheengineoiliswhen
theengineiscoolbeforeithasbeenstartedforthe
day.Ifithasalreadybeenrun,allowtheoiltodrain
backdowntothesumpforatleast10minutesbefore
checking.IftheoillevelisatorbelowtheAddmark
onthedipstick,addoiltobringtheoilleveltotheFull
mark.Donotoverll.Iftheoillevelisbetweenthe
FullandAddmarks,youdonotneedtoaddoil.
1.Preparethemachineformaintenance;referto
PreparingforMaintenance(page44).
2.Unlatchandopenthehood.
3.Removethedipstick(Figure68)andwipeitwith
acleanrag.

4.Pushthedipstickdownintothedipsticktube
andensurethatitisseatedfully,thenpullthe
dipstickoutandchecktheoillevel.
5.Iftheoillevelislow,removetheoil-llcap
(Figure69)andgraduallyaddsmallquantitiesof
oil,checkingthelevelfrequently,untilthelevel
reachestheFullmarkonthedipstick.
Important:Keeptheengine-oillevel
betweentheupperandlowerlimitson
thedipstick.Overllingorunderllingthe
engineoilmaycausesevereenginedamage.
