Shiftingthecuttingunitsdownhilldecreases
machinestability.Thiscouldcausearollover,
whichmayresultinpersonalinjuryordeath.
Shiftthecuttingunitsuphillwhileonaside
hill.
CuttingUnitDriveSwitch
Thecuttingunitdriveswitch(Figure43)has2
positions:ENGAGEandDISENGAGE.Therockerswitch
operatesasolenoidvalveonthevalvebanktodrive
thecuttingunits.
OilPressureWarningLight
Theoilpressurewarninglight(Figure43)glowsifthe
engineoilpressuredropsbelowasafelevel.
EngineCoolantTemperatureWarningLight
Thetemperaturewarninglight(Figure43)illuminates
iftheenginecoolanttemperatureishigh.Atthis
temperature,thecuttingunitsshutoff.Ifthecoolant
temperaturerisesanother5.5°C(10°F),theengine
shutsofftopreventfurtherdamage.
HourMeter
Thehourmeter(Figure43)indicatesthetotalhoursof
machineoperation.Thehourmeterstartstofunction
wheneverthekeyswitchison.
Glow-PlugIndicator
Theglow-plugindicatorlight(Figure43)illuminates
whentheglowplugsareenergized.
Throttle
Movethethrottle(Figure43)forwardtoincreasethe
enginespeedandrearwardtodecreasetheengine
speed.
AlternatorLight
Thealternatorlight(Figure43)shutsoffwhenthe
engineruns.Ifthealternatorlightilluminateswhilethe
engineruns,checkthechargingsystemandrepair
itasnecessary.
IgnitionSwitch
Usetheignitionswitch(Figure43)toruntheengine
andlights.Theignitionswitchhas3positions:
•TheSHUTOFFpositionshutsofftheengine.
•TheRUN/PREHEATpositionallowstheengineto
runorpreheatsthecylinderheadoftheengine.
•TheSTARTpositionenergizesthestarter.
Note:WhenthekeyisintheRUN/PREHEATposition,
theglowplugenergizesandtheindicatorlight
illuminatesforapproximately7seconds.
LiftLeverLock
Movetheliftleverlock(Figure43)rearwardtoprevent
thecuttingunitsfromdropping.
ParkingBrake
Whenevertheengineisshutoff,engagetheparking
brake(Figure43)topreventaccidentalmovementof
themachine.T oengagetheparkingbrake,pullup
onthelever;todisengagethebrake,pushdownthe
lever.
Note:Theengineshutsoffifyoupressthetraction
pedalwiththeparkingbrakeengaged.

Themowermanifoldislocatedunderthe
