2. Depress the end of the connector latch pad near the rear (wire end) of the plug housing. Continue to
squeeze the latch pad and pull on the rear housing section to separate the mated connector assembly.

3. Insert contact/TPA Removal Tool or reasonable substitute, into the extraction tool slot in the plug or cap
assembly TPA as shown in Figure 10. Orient the removal tool so the notch in the tool is facing the
centerline of the TPA. Hook the removal tool firmly against the edge of the slot and pull on the TPA until it
is completely removed from the housing assembly. Retain the TPA for use with the connector assembly
after the contacts are replaced.
NOTE
An optional procedure to unlock the plug TPA is to place a coin edge under the edge of the TPA and pry it to an unlocked
position. To continue removing the TPA, twist the coin under the edge of the TPA. See Figure 10.
