Example (cabinet opening shown above):
 If your cabinet opening is 15” wide by 27” high and you use a ½” overlay
hinge (industry standard), add 1” to both the width and height
measurements. The door size required to cover the cabinet opening would
be 16” x 28”. This cabinet door would overlay the face frame by 1/2" on all
four sides of the face frame.
 Here's a simple formula using the above dimensions to help determine the
replacement cabinet door size you need:
(Width of Cabinet Opening + (2 x Door Overlay)) + (Height of Cabinet Opening + (2 x
Door Overlay)) = Actual Measurement
 (15" opening width x (2 x 1/2" overlay) = 16" width
 (27" opening height x (2 x 1/2"overlay) = 28" height
Note** In the example above we use a 1/2” overlay. Your door overlay may vary
(3/4", 1 1/4" etc.), so you'll need to take that into account when calculating your
overlay and overall measurements. These measurements are guidelines. Ensure
your measurements match the specifications of your exact hinge type.
Double Cabinet Doors for One Opening
If you need to measure for two cabinet doors for one cabinet opening we
recommend the following calculation (using the most common standard 1/2"
overlay):
 For double doors or "butt doors" (two doors on a single opening) with a
1/2” overlay:
 Add 1“ to opening height of the cabinet.
 For width only, add 1” to the opening width, divide by 2, then subtract
1/16” for door gap.
