Contact Method (Two-Sided)
Membrane to Substrate
All Vertical Surfaces
Adhesive must be used as a two-sided adhesive when contacting two non-porous surfaces. Folding half of the membrane back on to itself,
and using a medium-nap roller, apply the adhesive uniformly to both surfaces (underside of membrane and substrate) avoiding puddles and
areas of heavy deposits. Allow the adhesive to dry completely. Adhesive will turn from white to transparent when completely dry. When the
adhesive is dry, the membrane can be folded onto the substrate. Repeat steps for other half of the roof surface. Intimate contact between the
membrane and substrate is important. Complete lamination must be made by immediately using a stiff push broom across the entire surface of
the membrane after bonding it to the substrate.
Adhesive coverage rate is 60 sq. ft. of finished roof surface per gallon. Use one-half of the appropriate coverage rate for each surface. For
example: One-half of a 60 sq. ft. roof area (30 sq. ft.) would receive one-half gallon of adhesive (one-quarter gallon on membrane and one-
quarter gallon on substrate). Repeat steps for other half of membrane and roof surface.
Wet Lay-In Method to One Porous Surface (One-Sided) Membrane to Porous Substrate
Adhesive can be used as a one-sided wet lay-in when used in conjunction with a porous substrate, like high-density wood fiberboard, CDX
plywood or OSB. Apply adhesive to the porous substrate only using a medium nap roller. Immediately fold the membrane into the wet adhesive
ensuring the membrane has received a transfer coating of adhesive on the backside by lifting the membrane to see adhesive transfer. If the
adhesive has turned transparent on the substrate, it has begun to take a set and requires a thin coat of adhesive applied to the corresponding
area on the membrane also. The membrane may be repositioned before the adhesive has taken a set. Intimate contact between the membrane
and substrate is important. Complete lamination must be made using a stiff push broom or roller immediately after lamination of the membrane
to the adhesive on the substrate. Coverage is 100 to 120 sq. ft. of finished roof per gallon (approximately 3 sheets of 4 ft. by 8 ft. substrate per
gallon of adhesive).
General Use Recommendations
Always use contact method for vertical surfaces. Surfaces must be clean and free of grease, oil, dirt, water and other contaminates before
applying adhesive. Surfaces may be cleaned with a clean rag and acetone. Intimate contact between the membrane and substrate is important
and must be made using a stiff push broom or roller immediately after lamination of the membrane to the substrate. For wet lay-in method,
membrane may be repositioned before adhesive has taken a set. Keep from freezing. Must be applied at temperatures above 40˚F during
project and not less than 72 hours after project completion.
PREVENTION: Avoid breathing vapors, mist or spray. Use with adequate ventilation and ensure eye-wash is available. Wash thoroughly after
handling. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wear eye and face protection. Wear protective gloves.
RESPONSE: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF IN EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present
and easy to remove. Continue rinsing. IF SKIN IRRITATION OR RASH OCCURS: Get medical attention. IF EYE IRRITATION PERSISTS: Get
medical attention. INHALATION: Move to fresh air. Call for a doctor if breathing is difficult. INGESTION: Rinse mouth with water. Drink 1-2
glasses of water but do not induce vomiting. Do not give liquid to drowsy, convulsing or unconscious person. If vomiting occurs spontaneously,
keep head below hips to prevent aspiration.Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
DISPOSAL: Dispose of contents and/or container according to federal, state/provincial and local governmental regulations.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
