MADE IN THE USA FAQs
Q: WHAT COMMITMENT HAS SOUTHWIRE MADE TO MANUFACTURING IN THE USA?
A: Southwire was founded as a manufacturing company in Carrollton, Georgia in 1950. We now have facilities
nationwide with more than 7,000 employees that produce our wire and cable. This hand tools program is a part
of our commitment to US manufacturing, which also includes our Seatek™ Series, Sumner Manufacturing Co.
product line, along with extension cords and the majority of our contractor equipment category.
Q: ARE THESE TOOLS MADE IN THE USA FROM GLOBAL COMPONENTS?
A: These are 100% made in the USA from the forging to the grips.
Q: ARE THERE PLANS TO MANUFACTURE ALL HAND TOOLS IN THE US?
A: We do plan to increase domestic manufacturing but it will be some time before all of our tools are
domestically made.
Q: WHY DID YOU BRING THESE PRODUCTS TO USA?
A: This program is in response to requests from our customers and end users for a line of Made in
USA pliers and wire strippers. You asked, and we delivered.
Q: HOW MANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN THE USA?
A: Nearly all of Southwire’s wire and cable is manufactured in the USA. The majority of our contractor
equipment is made here in the states, and we will continue to expand our USA made hand tools line.
Q: WHAT IS THE WARRANTY ON THESE TOOLS?
A: The pliers are covered by a no-hassle, lifetime warranty. The wire strippers are covered by
a no-hassle, 2-year warranty.
Q: ARE THERE ADDITIONAL PLIERS AND WIRE STRIPPERS COMING?
A: We are working on several development projects to expand our made in USA assortment.
Q: ARE YOU DISCONTINUING THE PRE-EXISTING MODELS?
A: We will continue to offer a domestic and an import line for the foreseeable future.
