Troubleshooting
The ON/STANDBY indicator remains lit after you
unplug the power cord.

The ON/STANDBY indicator may not turn off
immediately after you unplug the power cord. This
is not a malfunction. The indicator will turn off after
40 seconds.
Remote control
“Low battery. Please charge the remote control.
appears.

The battery in the remote control is weak. Place the
remote control on the charger to charge the built-in
battery.

If the usage time of the built-in battery becomes
excessively short after charging, the battery may have
deteriorated. In such a case, contact your nearest
Sony dealer.
The remote control does not work.

An inverter circuit for a fluorescent lamp is near the
unit. Move the unit away from the circuit.

Microwave ovens or wireless network devices are
near the unit. Move the unit away from these devices.

Try to reset the unit. Press the reset button on the
remote control (page 62).
The buttons do not respond.

The battery in the remote control may be drained.
Place the remote control on the charger to charge the
built-in battery.
Display
Various information and images appear in the
display after you connect the power cord, even
when you do not press  (power).
When the remote control is placed on the
charger and no operation is performed for a
while, various information and images appear in
the display.

The display is set to demonstration mode. To cancel
demonstration mode, see page 24.
When the unit is turned on, the display on the
remote control goes black.

Touch any buttons on the remote control to turn the
display on.
Sound output
There is no sound.

The volume may be minimized. Press +/– buttons to
adjust the volume.

Cancel pause.

Confirm that nothing is connected to the PHONES
jack.

Check the connections of the device connected to
the unit. Check if the respective function is selected.

The specified station may have temporarily stopped
broadcast.
There is severe humming or noise in the sound.

Move the audio connecting cord away from any
display, fluorescent light, or other electrical devices.

Move the unit away from any display or TV.

If plugs or jacks are dirty, wipe them with a cloth
slightly moistened with alcohol.

The inserted disc is scratched or dirty.

Connect the unit to a different wall socket.

Install a noise filter (available separately) to the
power cord.
The sound is distorted in the iPod function.

Set the “EQ” setting of the iPod to “Off” or “Flat.
There is no sound from the headphones.

Your headphones may not be plugged fully into the
unit. Plug them in securely.
