1. Turn the cremone bolt handle (A) until the
cremone mechanism is fully extended.
2. Assemble the cremone bolt by hooking the
rods onto the cremone mechanism.
3. Hold the bolt together and place it in the
desired mounting location on the face of your
door or window.
Note: The flat side of the rods should be against the
installation surface.
4. Mark the locations of the mounting holes in the
bolthandle.
5. Determine the appropriate bolt rod length. The
rods should extend 1/2" into the door jam. Trim
the rods with a hacksaw as necessary.
6. Set the bolt aside and drill mounting holes in the
locations marked in step 4.
7. Attach the bolt assembly (handle, and rods) to
the installation surface with the flat face of the
rods against the surface.
8. Holding the rods in place, attach the upper and
lower mid-point guides (
B) to the installation
surface. Use a level to make sure that the rods are
properly aligned. At this point, the bolt assembly is
self-supported.
9. Attach the upper and lower end guides (C).
10. Close the door or window and mark the
locations of the strike plates (E) on the door frame.
Drill holes 1/2" deep for the bolt rods. Use a chisel
to create a shallow recess around the holes so that
the strike plates will be flush with the frame.
Attach the strike plates to the frame.
