Security Functions
Name Description
Confidential Print
This function is a part of the ‘Retention Print’ function. ‘Hold after Print with PIN or Pass
Code’ is called ‘Confidential Print.’
Requires a personal ID number to be entered at the MFP before printing.
Data Security Kit
With the optional Data Security Kit, data that has been scanned for copying or printing is
automatically cleared from storage after the job is finished.
It can also encrypt certain types of data
, and provide a Document control Function.
Disabling of List
Print
Network settings such as IP addresses and private information such as address books are
stored in the main unit. The printout of this data can be disabled to prevent leak of individual
data in the address book or administrative information on MFPs.
Disabling
Selection from
Address Book
Use of the address book can be disabled in the following transmission methods to avoid data
transmission to invalid and unauthorised destinations.
Scan to E-mail / Scan to FTP / Scan to Desktop / Scan to Network Folder / Internet Fax Send /
Fax Send
Document
Administration
Forwards all sent/received documents (except “USB memory scan” and “PC scan” data) to
‘e-mail’, ‘FTP’, ‘desktop’ and ‘Network folder’ for the administrator.
Document
Control*
When data printed under this mode is scanned by MX-M503N, MX-M453N, MX-M363N,
and MX-M283N or later models equipped with the Data Security Kit, the Document Control
function cancels the job by detecting certain characteristic patterns inserted upon
copying/printing, and prevents printing/transmission of the data.
Encrypted PDF Enables you to protect data with password and/or encrypt scanned PDF data.
IEEE802.1X
Authenticates hardware that connects to the network at the LAN switch or the wireless LAN
access point. This is used for some “unauthorised connection prevention solution” and
“quarantine network solution”.
IP/MAC Address
Filtering/Port
Filtering
IP/MAC address filtering controls MFP access to enable secure network printing.
Port filtering blocks unneeded TCP/IP services and enhances network security.
IPsec
Encrypts and certifies data that flows on the network. It is able to encrypt all data sent by
using IP.
Job Log Keeps a log of machine operations.
Operating System
(OS)
Sharp’s proprietary operating system makes it less vulnerable to attack from the outside by
viruses and malicious executable files. This is an advantage compared to mainstream OS
installed on our competitors.
Sender Control
Impersonated transmission when scanning to E-mail must be prevented. For this purpose,
the [Sender Name] selection in the [Send] settings for Scan to E-mail operations can be
enabled/disabled as needed. When the selection is disabled, the Web page administrator’s
address is applied to the sender and changes are restricted.
SSL Network
Communication
Enables data communication using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a protocol that encrypts data
for transmitting over networks.
SMB Server Message Block for scanning to secured folders.
SNMP v3 Simple Network management protocol version 3 for advanced security.
User
Authentication
Confirms whether a user is authorised to use the MFP.
Note: * feature is available on N model only.
