Whilst the overall picture shows a declining market, further analysis shows that the picture isn’t quite that simple.
The 21-30ppm market has begun to turn down since 2005, but the rate of decline has slowed dramatically to the
point that it appears to have hit a plateau.
The 41-50ppm segment has maintained a gradual decline, but the surprise is the 31-40ppm segment, which showed
a slight increase in unit sales in 2008.
No doubt this has a lot to do with falling prices and shrinking customer budgets, but this shows that there is still a
strong demand for workgroup and office – sized mono MFPs.
In fact the demand for this type of product is so strong that the decline in sales for this segment is less than the
decline of the overall mono MFP market.
