2.6.9 SafeCom MFP Cable Xerox
How to install and enable copy control on Xerox MFPs depends on the model.
Xerox WorkCentre Pro 35 and similar models
Install the Xerox Foreign Interface Kit P/N 498K03490 on the MFP according to
the instructions. Connect the SafeCom MFP Cable’s black DB-15 connector to
the MFP’s FIH port.
1. On the MFP press the Access button (button with key symbol).
2. Enter your password and touch Enter.
3. Touch Go To Tools.
4. Touch Access and Accounting.
5. Touch Authentication Mode.
6. Touch Foreign Interface Device.
7. Touch Save.
8. Touch Close.
9. Touch Foreign Interface Device Setup.
10. Touch Inhibit Services.
11. Touch Copy Only if you want the SafeCom solution to inhibit access to
copying. Touch All Services if you want the SafeCom solution to inhibit
all scanning services.
12. Touch Save.
13. Touch Close.
14. Touch Exit Tools.
Xerox WorkCentre 7245 and similar models
Install the Xerox Foreign Interface Kit P/N 498K14140 (DSC 6061 XC from
B.E.A.R. Solutions) on the MFP according to the instructions. Connect the
SafeCom MFP Cable’s black DB-15 connector to the MFP’s FIH port.
To enter UI Diagnostics and set NVM values:
1. On the MFP press and hold the 0 button for 5 seconds. Press Start.
2. Enter Code: 6789 and touch Confirm.
3. Press the Access button (button with key symbol).
4. Touch System Settings.
5. Touch General Settings.
6. Touch Maintenance/Diagnostics.
6. Touch NVM Read/Write.
7. In Chain-Link enter the appropriate NVM address. Touch Confirm.
8. Enter the New Value and touch Save.
9. Repeat step 7 and 8 until you have set the values specified in the
instructions that came with the Xerox Foreign Interface Kit. Example on
the 7245 you should set the NVM 850-007 to 1.
10. Touch Close.
11. Touch Exit (keep log).
12. Touch Yes to keep the log (history) and restart the Xerox MFP.
Note: To remove the Xerox Foreign Interface Kit, to perhaps use SafeCom Go
Xerox, you should follow the instructions that came with the Xerox Foreign
Interface Kit and remember to disconnect the Kit at the right time.
