Cotton Cotton – Cotton rugs are soft and can display a wide variety of colors. Pure cotton is often used in flat weave rugs and blends effortlessly with other materials as well. Extra thought should be given before placing cotton rugs in spill-prone areas.
Jute Jute – Jute rugs are fabulous yet durable as well as being the softest of the natural fibers. These rugs add a natural texture and earthy vibe to any room. The material closely resembles the qualities of cotton while remaining relatively maintenance-free.
Seagrass Seagrass – Sustainable and environmentally friendly, Seagrass rugs are easy to care while remaining decorative at the same time. This material is ideal to complement casual décor and lends a distinctive coastal-cool vibe to any room. They are resistant to stains and spills and many designs are made with dotted-felt backing friendly to use on wood or tiled surfaces.
Sisal Sisal – Sisal is made from the agave plant and is the strongest and most durable natural fiber. These will remain resilient and work beautifully in high traffic areas of the home or home office. Due to its tough nature, these rugs are fairly coarse but still offer a soothing feel underfoot.
Synthetic Polyester Polypropelene Synthetic – Synthetic yarn rugs mainly consist of polypropylene, polyester, and a blend of the two. Computer-driven power looms can blend of a myriad of synthetic yarns of varying colors, textures, and sizes in creating rugs that replicate the intricate complexity of fine hand-knotted rugs at a much lower cost. They are family-friendly, easycare, and come in a multitude of styles and colors to suit any décor.
Viscose Viscose – Viscose has a lustrous sheen and silky-soft texture making it an absolutely luxurious material for making area rugs. The glam qualities of viscose are the perfect complement to sophisticated or classy-casual décor. These rugs are best placed in low traffic areas of the home to preserve the softness and maintain the longevity of the supple viscose yarns.
Wool Wool – Wool is used to make the finest hand-made (knotted & tufted) rugs. Pure wool yarns are soft and naturally stain-resistant due to the lanolin that is found in sheep wool. While all wool rugs shed as a natural occurrence, the finer wool yarns will have more lanolin than other grades and will tend to shed much less. Wool is also blended with other yarns in creating vibrant textures with vibrant designs and color tones.
