OPERATION PrecisionPower's DAC-348 processes the digital signal directly from the CD player, changer or other digital source. All digital to analog conversion as well as the subsequent filtering and analog treatment of the signal by the stock source unit is replaced by the superior digital signal processing, digital to analog conversion and fully discrete Class A analog circuitry of the DAC-348.
INSTALLATION / MOUNTING Mounting To prevent damage to the DAC while driving, mount it in a secure place. Choosing the appropriate location will depend upon your vehicle and the complexity of your system design. Keep in mind that the output of the DAC-348 must go to a preamp to control the volume of the digital source. To keep the signal path as short as possible, the DAC-348 should be mounted as close to the head unit and preamp as possible.
WIRING Factory Ground wire may need to be replaced if it is frayed or broken. Positive Battery Terminal Fuse must be installed within 18" of battery Run signal cables (RCAs) and remote turn-on lead down the opposite side of the vehicle from the power wire to avoid radiated noise. eject BASS LEFT 1 2 5 6 3 4 7 8 Trk 1 TREBLE BALANCE VOLUME TRACK RIGHT FOWARD PPI MAR KET ING DPT REVERSE Drill a hole in the firewall and use a rubber grommet to keep wire from shorting.
WIRING The next step is to connect the Power, Ground, and Remote wires to your DAC-348. The power wire should run from the mounting location through the vehicle to the battery or power distribution block. Avoid sharp corners, creases, and sharp body parts. When passing through any metal wall (i.e. firewall etc.), a grommet must be used to prevent the wire from chaffing and shorting to ground. The ground wire should be of the same gauge as the power wire.
INPUTS / OUTPUTS 1 Connect the Digital output from your source to the appropriate Digital Input connector (coax or Toslink optical). 2 After connecting Power, Ground, and Remote wires, plug in the Powerlock connector here. 3 5 amp Fuse A Parallel Analog Outputs to Preamp. TROUBLE SHOOTING NO SOUND IS THE POWER LED LIT? YES NO Check Power and Remote turn-on wire for voltage. Make sure Ground wire is secure. IS THE SYNC LED LIT? YES Unplug the Digital Input cable from the DAC-348 NO Bypass the DAC-348 by connecting the analog RCA input cables directly to the Preamp (PAR-245). ANY SOUND NOW? YES Problem is in the DAC. See your local Authorized PrecisionPower Dealer or call 1-800-62POWER. NO Problem is elsewhere in the system. Check head unit and amplifiers.
