Connecting up 02 Chapter 2: Important Connecting up Making cable connections CAUTION • Before making or changing the connections, switch off the power and disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. • Connect the power cord after all the connections between devices have been completed. 02 Connecting up Connecting antennas Plugging in Connect the FM/DAB wire antenna as shown below. To improve reception and sound quality, connect external antennas (see Using external antennas below). CAUTION • Do not use any power cord other than the one supplied with this unit. • Do not use the supplied power cord for any purpose other than that described below. Important • When going on a trip or otherwise not using the unit for an extended period, always disconnect the power cord from its outlet.

Operation 04 Chapter 4: Set the power to Standby Operation Playback • To listen to the FM radio broadcasts, see page 10. • To listen to the DAB radio broadcasts, see page 11. Turntable SACD/CD player Note • If the power cord is disconnected when the unit is in the standby mode the unit will turn off, but when the cord is then reconnected, the unit will not automatically turn on. After reconnecting the power cord, press the remote control’s STANDBY/ON button to turn the power on.
Operation Listening to the FM radio If the or indicator does not light when tuning to an FM station because the signal is weak, set the stereo receiver to the mono reception mode. • This should improve the sound quality and allow you to enjoy the broadcast.
Operation SEARCH TOP MENU 4 1 RDS PTY DISPLAY MUTE TUNE ENTER SCAN VOLUME Press / to search the station. The system starts searching through the station presets for a match, stopping when it was found one. Repeat to search for other stations. • NO RDS is displayed if no other RDS station is found. • If NO PTY is displayed it means the tuner couldn’t find that program type at the time of the search.
04 Operation 1 Press the FM/DAB button repeatedly to select "DAB". If you select a station that cannot be received properly, “DAB No Tuned” is displayed. Operation 04 Listening in surround sound Allows you to create natural surround sound effects using just the left and right speakers. • Default setting: OFF 1 Press SURROUND repeatedly to select the surround sound options. • You can select MIN, MID, MAX or OFF. If set to MAX, the surround sound effects will be more emphasized.
