14 mm Interface Terminal
• PLC-R… : equipped with relay
• PLC-B… : base terminal block, unequipped
1. Note on designation and order no.
The PLC-R… interface terminal equipped with a relay consists of:
a) PLC-B…, the unequipped base terminal block, and
b) REL-MR…, the pluggable miniature relay (see fig.1).
The designation and order no. printed on the packaging of the in-
terface terminal block equipped with relay, PLC-R…, is therefore
not identical to that on base terminal block PLC-B… and plug-
gable miniature relay REL-MR…

2. Product information for the
cc
cc
Mark
The requirements of the EMC guideline, 89/336/EEC (Electro-
magnetic Compatibility) and the harmonized European stan-
dards listed with this are fulfilled by all the articles bearing the
CE mark.
The EC declarations of conformity are kept available for the au-
thorities responsible in acc. with the above-mentioned guideli-
ne, article 10. Address, see above.
When operating relay modules, the operator must see that the
requirements pertaining to emitted interference for electrical
and electronic operating equipment (EN 50081) are observed
on the contact side and must perform any necessary measures.
Relay modules with IP 20 protection or less must be installed in
rooms for electrical operating apparatus or in enclosed hou-
sings (e.g. switch cabinets).
When working on the switch cabinets, the operating personnel
must first discharge electrostatic current before opening switch
boxes or switch cabinets and before touching the modules (to
protect the modules against electrostatic discharge).
3. Installation instructions
Caution: Never perform work on the device while
mains voltage is applied! Danger to life!
3.1. Contact protection circuit
In order to achieve
as long an electrical service life as pos-
sible
for the relay and also avoid the coupling of inductive volta-
ge in other components/system parts, a
contact protection
circuit
(e.g. damping diode, varistor, RC element etc.) should
be provided
on the consumer
in the case of a high load and
particularly in the case of a share of inductive load.
Detailed information is to be found in the Phoenix Contact
catalog INTERFACE.
3.2. Fixing on the mounting rail
An end bracket must be positioned at the start and end of every
terminal strip. Wherever it is subject to vibration, we recom-
mend E/UK1 (Order No. 12 01 41 3).
When subject to vibration, the mounting rail must be fixed at in-
tervals of 10 cm!
3.3. Bridging voltage potentials
Identical voltage potentials of adja-
cent terminal blocks (A1, A2, 11…)
can be bridged with plug-in bridges.
The bridges must snap in fully.
To remove the bridges, refer to fig.2.

The bridges can be cut to length using EKS1, the single-han-
ded cable cutter (Order No. 12 01 83 7). Minimum length that
can be cut is 30 mm.
Currents
6A can be fed directly into the correspondingtermi-
nal points. In the case of higher currents, PLC-ESK GY input
terminal blocks (Order No. 29 66 50 8) are to be used.
3.4. Separating plate PLC-ATP BK
The separating plate (Order No.
29 66 84 1, fig. 3) must be inserted
in the following cases:
always at the beginning and
end of each PLC terminal strip.
for voltages greater than 250 V
between identical terminals of
adjacent modules (L1, L2, L3).
for reliable isolation between
adjacent modules.
to isolate adjacent bridges of different potentials.
for visual separation of functional groups.
Prescored and consecutively numbered break-outs make
continuous bridging possible.

When a PLC-R… is controlled from PLC cards or
proximity switches with AC-output, residual and mini-
mum load current must be observed! Voltage coupling
on the control side is to be avoided!
4.2. Universal Series
PLC-R…/21-21…
with 2 PDT contacts (fig.4).

(A1, A2, 11, 21) can be
bridged with FBST… plug-
in bridges (see 3.3).
4.3. High Current Series PLC-R…21HC
