Installation
Before you start with the actual installation, note the difference between the Transmitter unit and
the Receiver unit. The Transmitter unit has three buttons on the front and the type label on the
bottom reads “TRANSMITTER”, The Receiver unit’s label reads “RECEIVER”. The Transmitter unit
must be installed close to the
video source
. The Receiver unit must be installed close to the second
TV.
Any satellite receiver, Pay-TV decoder box (either digital or analogue), video recorder (VCR), DVD
player, camcorder, etc. can be used as a
video source
. Observe the figures on the fold out page
during the installation procedure.
Step 1: Install the Receiver unit (figure A):
• Position the Receiver unit somewhere close to your second TV so that the front of the
unit can receive commands from your remote control.
• Connect a SCART cable from the SCART connector at the back of the Receiver unit (figure
A-1) to the SCART connector at the back of your second TV.
• Plug the cable of the power adapter into the 9V DC socket (figure A-3) at the rear of the
Receiver unit.
• Plug the power adapter into a mains socket.
Now that the Receiver unit is installed, go to where the
video source
is located to install the
Transmitter unit, but first make sure the channel selection switch (figure A-2, figure B-8) is in the
same position for both the Receiver and Transmitter units.
Some things to know about the Transmitter unit before installing it:
The Transmitter unit has two SCART input connectors (figure B-3 and B-5) and two SCART output
connectors (figure B-4 and B-6).
The Transmitter unit has an infrared ‘eye’ at the front (figure B-12) that ‘looks’ down to equipment
placed beneath it. This ‘eye’ sends the commands, received by the Receiver unit from your Remote
Control, to the
video source
you wish to control. So the best position for the Transmitter unit is
just above the video equipment with the fronts properly aligned (figure C).
In some cases you will need the supplied remote control extender cord. Further on we’ll tell you
when and how to install the remote control extender cord if you can’t place the Transmitter unit
in its ideal position, or if positioning it poses any problem.
Step 2: Install the Transmitter unit (figure B):
• Position the Transmitter unit on top of the
video sources
you wish to control with the front
panels of the units aligned vertically (figure C).
• Connect one of the supplied SCART cables from your VCR (or any other video source) to
the SCART connector marked “SCART IN 1” (figure B-3) at the back of Transmitter unit.
• Connect the other supplied SCART cable from the SCART connector marked “SCART OUT
1” (figure B-4) at the back of the Transmitter unit to the SCART connector on your TV.
(figure B). Check your TV’s user manual in case it has multiple SCART inputs (Ext1, Ext2)
• Ensure that the “SCART OUT 1” output mode switch (figure B-1) is set to .
• Plug the cable of the power adapter into the 9V DC socket (figure B-7) at the rear of the
Transmitter unit.
• Plug the power adapter into a mains socket.
