To hear your voice along with the music through a speaker, simply connect the karaoke between an external music source (such as a CD player) and your amplifier/receiver. The vocal canceller reduces the volume of the recording’s voice, so you hear your own voice as you sing with the music.

Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside the compartment. • 6 C batteries • AC power Installing Batteries You can power the karaoke with 6 C batteries (not supplied). For the best performance, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-551. Follow these steps to install the batteries. 1. Set POWER to OFF. 2.
32-1158.fm Page 5 Monday, August 9, 1999 2:34 PM Using AC Power To power your karaoke from a standard AC outlet, you need an AC adapter, such as Cat. No. 273-1652. Caution: You must use an AC adapter that supplies 12 volts DC power and at least 200 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to positive and it must have a plug that properly fits the DC 12V jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications.
32-1158.fm Page 6 Monday, August 9, 1999 2:34 PM CONNECTING TO YOUR AMPLIFIER/RECEIVER CONNECTING MICROPHONES To hear the music along with your voice, connect your stereo amplifier/ receiver to the karaoke’s AUX OUT L and R jacks using the supplied cable. Use the white plug for the left connection and the red plug for the right connection at both ends of the cable. You can use the supplied microphone to sing along.

You can use these controls to get the sound just right: recorded in the mid-frequency range, its sound level might decrease along with the vocals. Echo — This adds an echo effect to your voice while you sing. Adjust ECHO between MIN and MAX for the desired effect. Tone — This adjusts the treble and bass of the sound of your voice as it comes through the speaker.
32-1158.fm Page 8 Monday, August 9, 1999 2:34 PM 3. Set the ON/OFF switch on the supplied microphone to ON . Note: If you use another microphone, be sure to turn it on. 4. Adjust the volume control(s) for MIC 1 and/or MIC 2 to the desired sound level(s), and sing or talk into the microphone(s). You hear your voice through the amplifier/ receiver. Note: To avoid feedback, keep the microphone as far away from the speakers and the other microphone as possible. 5. Set POWER to VOCAL CANCEL.

The following suggestions will help you care for your karaoke so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the karaoke dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits. Use and store the karaoke only in normal temperature environments.

To determine whether your karaoke is causing the interference, turn off the karaoke. If the interference goes away, your karaoke is causing the interference.
